"Test Out" Guidelines for Thompson Center Tier 1
Training
The following guidelines are offered to help assist those
individuals who believe they might want to test out of Tier
1:
Have a PhD with emphasis in ASD
OR
Have a Master’s degree with 12-15 hours of autism specific
university/college coursework
OR
Be a Certified teacher, SLP, or related educational
personnel, who has taken six or more days of autism specific
trainings through Project ACCESS or similar agencies within
the past four years, currently works and/or consults with
ASD students and who considers him(her)self to be a veteran
teacher/consultant with a thorough working knowledge of all
aspects of ASD.**
**Tier 2 training is built upon Tier 1 training and in most
cases, it will beneficial for an individual to attend Tier 1
training. Obviously, there will be some exceptions but it is
anticipated that this option will only be exercised by a few
individuals.
Efforts are underway to create an online "placement exam"
that would allow candidates who meet these guidelines to
proceed directly to Tier 2 if the candidate places high
enough on the online test. Persons who completed the
scholarship application and indicated an interest in
"testing out" of Tier 1 will be emailed further instructions
when the test becomes available.
