On the return trip, we stopped at the Grand Falls of Shoal Creek. It is one of the largest waterfalls in Missouri. The ledge is made of Grand Falls Chert, a Mississippian age rock unit that is the principal host rock for mineralization in the Tri-state Mineral District.
