New Year, New Goals, New Beginnings |
|

As Marketing faculty and students arrive back on campus after their
holiday break to begin a new semester, several things loom on the
horizon for 2005. Certainly many feel this may be the year, as SMS
celebrates its centennial, that the long awaited name change to Missouri
State University takes place. Additionally, the University will name a
new president during 2005. Finally it’s also appropriate to look to the
past as culminating events to celebrate the University’s centennial
occur over the next several months too.
(See
http://calendar.missouristate.edu/centennial.asp for a full schedule of these
events.)
For the Marketing
Department in 2005, Diana Haytko
takes over the reins of Ad Team, replacing Melissa Burnett. Several Marketing professors
will travel to China to teach at SMSU’s branch campus in Dalian.
Lastly, Linda Pettijohn is anticipating the upcoming Fall semester-she
will be teaching in London,
as part of SMSU’s Study Away exchange program.
Yes, 2005 promises
to be a year filled with promise, challenge and change. But then, isn’t
that what moving forward is always about? Best wishes to you for a
prosperous and enriching New Year. |

REFLECTIONS |
Happy
New Year! As we have just celebrated a season of holidays and look
toward the New Year, it is indeed appropriate to take time to give
thanks. Our department has a great deal to be thankful for.
In particular, we are grateful for bright and energetic students - our
most important customers; for they and our work are our “raison de etre.”

What an Adventure!
Alum Comes Full Circle...
Courtney
Pham may not be your “typical” SMS marketing alum in many ways.
However, those attributes which are typical of most successful
persons--persistence, hard work, willingness to take risks-- play
strongly in her personal story. Recently
returned from a historic journey back to Vietnam, Courtney poses with
San Francisco mayor, Gavin Newsome.
