Welcome to our summer edition of the Newsletter!
Our top story this edition is the SMSU advertising students' TOP TEN finish again at the American Advertising Federation’s Student Ad Competition in Dallas, Texas. This again places our advertising program in the top ten of the nation’s colleges and universities. Dr. Melissa Burnett has requested to step down from her role as director of the ad program and the student competition after many years of dedicated service. She has done an absolutely fabulous job, as her students have a record of firsts, seconds and thirds in district competition that is unparalleled and national competition results that have placed SMS in the top ten for years. Dr. Diana Haytko has agreed to step into these positions and we look forward to a continuation of the legacy Melissa and her students have created. In other news, the Marketing faculty continues to publish in numbers. The department is known as the “group to beat” within the COBA and the faculty continue to be among the highest ranked in student evaluation of faculty performance, and scholarly activity.

Once again, I ask you to keep in touch with us by sending updates on any items that would be of interest to our readers: job changes, family additions, interesting hobby developments, and certainly address and email changes. PLEASE, send me your business card (right now is a good time, while you are thinking about it!) so we can add it to our “Business Card Wall of Fame.”
Motorcycle and car enthusiasts/racers have a saying that seems particularly appropriate for our summertime psyche this season…and so I say: “Keep the shiny-side up.” All the best, Robin Luke |
