Welcome to our Spring 2006 Newsletter! With the arrival of spring came some new arrivals in our lives. A member of the faculty completed her doctoral dissertation responsibilities and now Christina Simmers can relax for a few days and then begin anew in her research agenda. Several faculty members have had publication success in the first few months of 2006, and others have recently returned from their “spring break” duties (Dr. Parker and Dr. Haytko have some “serious” tans.) I had the pleasure (was it a vacation?) with my wife of playing chaperone to 40+ high school seniors in Puerto Vallarta! I’m sure you can imagine the new-found vices discovered for some of these students while on this trip, and the anxiety in being responsible for “children” other than your own (I now really need a vacation). The most significant arrival in the Luke family was our third grandchild, Rachael Corrine, born March 10th. As you can see, she’s a beautiful girl. “Nate the Great” is holding his sister at the ripe old age of 2 hours. Mother and family are doing a terrific job of bringing a new sister into the household for Nate. As you can see, at this time he thinks she’s a great addition!

Another recent “happening” is the engagement of our Administrative Secretary, Konya Knacksted, to Mr. Fred Netzer. We wish them all the best and welcome Fred in to the Marketing Department “family.” We have much to tell you about recent happenings with faculty, students, and friends. So let’s get on with it!
