Milestones
By Sherry Cook

Then,
get your running shoes on and join in the annual 5K run at Phelps Grove
Park. From there it’s only a short walk over to John Q Hammons Parkway where you
can take in the Homecoming Parade. During the parade, be sure to cheer
for a certain member of the Homecoming Royalty.
Robert Stange is a
junior majoring in Marketing with an emphasis in advertising and promotion
and is a candidate for Homecoming King.
He is originally from
Farmington, Missouri and is currently a
member of University Ambassadors, Honors College, the Beartones, Beta Gamma
Sigma Honors Fraternity, Campus Crusade for Christ, and a SOAR Leader.
After
the parade, make sure to drop by the COBA tent for food, fun and festivities
at the giant tailgate party. Dr. Luke once again mans the grill, cooking up
some of his mouth-watering, delectable hot dogs. You’ll be sure to “have a
ball” as COBA once again offers balls and other sports memorabilia from all
the teams at SMSU.
The
Football Bears go up against Southern Illinois University. The Pride
Band has cooked up some special halftime entertainment and then, immediately
following the game, the 2004 Homecoming Royalty will be crowned.
Be a
part of the fun and support SMS during this very special Homecoming weekend.

COBA Hosts
9th Annual Business Career Day
More
than 500 students took time away from classes to visit with representatives
from approximately sixty-five organizations that came to SMS on October 5 to
participate in Business Career Day. Companies looked for students in the
areas of Marketing, Management, Finance and Industrial Management. The
Computer Information Systems and Accounting Departments host separate career
fairs for their majors.
According to Marketing Professor Linda Pettijohn, who spearheaded the event,
“Each year it becomes more successful.” She went on to offer thanks to the
more than 50 student volunteers and other faculty members who helped make
the day run smoothly.
