Ahhh.....Summertime
Sit Back, Relax, Enjoy... |
|
There’s something special about that summertime feeling. The days are
longer and just feel more relaxed, even if your job or schedule doesn’t
change. Of course, at Missouri State things do change as classes are
much smaller and the hectic pace of committee meetings and activities
slow down. Summer time, a time to regroup and regenerate for the
upcoming school year…
For us, summertime also signals the end of an academic year so it seems
appropriate to reflect on the year that has passed. What a year it has
been! August 28, 2006 we celebrate our first anniversary as Missouri State
University. We’ve seen top administrative changes with the coming of
President Michael Nietzel. We’ve welcomed three new faculty members to
the Marketing Department—Drs. Carlo Smith, Sarah Smith and Christina
Simmers. We’ve had record numbers of faculty members travel
internationally to teach and to learn from cultures other than our
own. We’re also proud to boast of one of our Marketing alumni—Brian
Hammons, who was named to the Missouri State Board of Governors this
year. And, as always, we are proud and amazed when we hear stories of
the great things our Marketing alum are doing all over the world.
Yes, it’s has been an exciting year, filled with positive change and
energy with promises of more things to come in the upcoming school
year. But for now, sit back, read and enjoy the last few lazy days of
summer. |

REFLECTIONS |

By now
you've got mulch for the garden beds and cleaned out the gutters. The
lawn mower got serviced and is now well-used.
You have either
visited and/or been visited by many family and friends, and you're just
about partied out! Welcome to summer!

Heather Conlan-This New Alum Finds Her
Way. . .
So often, we
feature Marketing alum who have been out in the business world for a
long time, those who have “been there, done that.” This time, however,
we take another angle, visiting with a rather new alum—one just
beginning to make her mark, quite successfully, in the work world. Heather Conlan
talks candidly about the transition.
